Coffee Creamer -- Coconut Oil your Healthy Alternative - Blended not Stirred

I'll be honest, I am not a big coffee drinker however I have a bunch of challengers that are and many of them struggle with cutting the cream/sugar... When ever I do indulge in a cup of joe - Yes I need Cream and some sort of sugar.. or a flavored creamer.. We all know that these can just pack on extra calories that we really dont need. Just think if your a multiple cup drinker how that can add up during the day. My challengers were looking for a solution and I was going to help them fine one. They didnt want thier moring cup of coffe but are looking for alternatives that are healthier.

I have been hearing about the great new craze.......BLENDED COCONUT OIL in your Coffee!!  So I decided to try it myself. Boy was it delicious. For a girl who's not really a coffee drinker & likes it with sugar and cream, this blended coconut oil really hit the spot.

What do you need?
  • Coffee
  • Coffee Cup
  • Blender
  • Coconut Oil (1 tsp)

How does it work?
It really is quite a simple process as well. The blender emulsifies the coconut oil so the texture is more creamy than oily and it is a delicious way to get a boost of healthy fats.

1. Blend your favorite cup of coffee
2. Pour it into your mug
3. Pour it from the mug into a small blender
4. Make sure the lid to the blender is on tight. ( hot coffee all over is not fun)
5. Blend for approx 10 - 20 seconds
6. BE CAREFUL taking the lid off the blender - coffee is hot!
7. Pour back into cup !!

Health Benefits
So not only is this a replacement for your cream and sugar there are great health benefits as well. Coconut oil is mostly made up of medium chain fatty acids (MCFA).  These are processed directly by your liver, reducing the necessity for glucose production and not allowing the fat to be stored.  MCFA-rich diets have also been shown to increase energy expenditure and metabolic rates. MCFAs, when proces sed by the liver, also produce ketones, which can be used by most cells in the body for energy, especially in the brain. When you drink coconut oil in coffee you're not only getting your heart pumping, but you're also giving your brain and your metabolism a boost. It's a win-win-win.
