Steaming Your Veggies - What are the Benefits

Steaming Vegetables is the best way to cook them !! 
TRUE !! 

I used to always boil mine.. I think that is one reason that I was not a fan of veggies.. They always looked drab in color and seemed kinda mushy.. But with steaming I can keep them with a bit of crunch still and the color of Broccoli is vibrant green - it really does look more appetizing - well to me anyway. 
What are the Benefits? 
1. Steaming is the best way to cook veggies. Do yourself a favor and just skip frying them, this is the worst way to cook them. Vitamins, Minerals and Antioxidents can be stripped from the vegetables when preparing them using the following methods: boiling, frying, sauteing, and grilling.  If you want to preserve the nutrients you should be steaming them. 
If you do boil vegetables, here's a tip: Get back those leached nutrients by using the water in a soup, sauce or stew.
2. Flavor !!  When steamed veggies are cooke just the right way, they have such great flavor !! This will make you opt to eat them more often. (It DID FOR ME  :)  ) 
3. Digestion - Steamed veggies are softer which then makes them easier on your digestive system. This in turn allows the nutrients to be absorbed easier into your body. Plus it may cause fewer indigestion issues that may occur if they were fried. 
4. Less Fat - To Steam veggies you do not have to use any oil etc as you would if you were preparing them using another method. This can help in keeping your cholesterol down. 
My new favorite way to eat steamed veggies is to add a little coconut Oil and a pinch of Pink Himalayn Salt to them
So how do you go about Steaming? 
HOW TO STEAM IF YOU DON'T HAVE A STEAMER
If you don't have an electric steamer:
  1. Place your vegetables on a metal steam basket in a large pot with about 2 inches of boiling water. Steam until slightly tender.

    OR
  2. Lay some inexpensive forks in the bottom of your pot with enough water to boil but not to cover the forks. Put the vegetables on top of the forks and steam.
 Vegetables are going to be the better choice regardless of what way you cook them... Try out Steaming for the most nutritious way !
